Privacy Policy

Your data, treated like a borrowed book.

Carefully, and returned in the condition we received it. The plain-English promise up front: reader information is never displayed publicly, never sold, and never shared beyond what it takes to get books to you. One exception exists, for piracy, and it’s explained below.

Last updated 14 August 2026.

The plain-English version is in the line above. This is the detail behind it: what’s collected, why, who it passes through, and how to get it changed or deleted.

Who we are

The Reading Room is operated by Literary Inspired, reachable at [email protected].

What we collect, and why

ARC team signups (name, email, reading platform, and the answers you give on a team’s form) are collected to deliver advance copies and campaign emails for that team. Newsletter and Insider signups are collected by our email system to send the emails you chose. Author booking enquiries are collected to respond and, if booked, to run the campaign. Nothing is collected to sell, and nothing is collected “just in case.”

The reader promise

No reader’s name, email, or personal information ever appears on a public page of this site. Public statistics are aggregates. Reader quotes are published with initials only, and only with permission.

Piracy, the one exception

Every advance copy is watermarked with a digital ID identifying the reader it was issued to. If a copy turns up on a piracy site and traces back to a reader, that reader is removed from every team, and their name will be shared with the network of ARC services, author teams, and publishing professionals that tracks pirated advance copies. This is the only situation where reader information goes anywhere beyond the delivery chain. It exists to protect the authors who trust this room with unreleased books, and the Terms describe it in the same words.

Third-party services

Getting a book from an author to your e-reader runs through a short chain of tools, each with its own privacy policy: Google Forms (team signups), BookFunnel (ARC delivery), our email system (newsletters and campaign updates), and a payment processor for author bookings. Your information reaches each only to the extent that step needs it. Our email system is Listmonk, self-hosted on our own server, so reader email addresses stay with us rather than sitting with a third-party mailing platform.

Cookies & analytics

This site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. A small number of essential cookies keep it working. Any analytics used are aggregate, measuring how pages perform, never tied to your name and never used to profile you.

How long we keep it

Signup information is kept while you’re on a team or a list, and removed when you leave or unsubscribe. Booking records are kept as long as the campaign and basic business records need them. Ask any time and I’ll tell you exactly what’s held.

Your rights

You can leave any ARC team, unsubscribe from any email, or ask what information is held about you and have it corrected or deleted, by emailing [email protected]. Literary Inspired is based in South Africa and handles your information in line with South Africa’s POPIA; if you’re in the EU or UK, the same rights of access and deletion apply to you.
